As Hamburg is one of the few 'city-states' in Germany it is important to know about holidays and school vacation of adjoining states because the might differ - but still affect each other. Should you ever get stuck in a traffic jam and don't know why, the reason might be a holiday or school vacation.

In Germany holidays vary by state. Unfortunately Hamburg is the state with the smallest number of holidays. Hhhmmm. Could be worth working in Bavaria after all ;)
